Venue:
to be confirmed but in
northern Sydney
These two days will explore and practice: the
narrative concepts of 'saying
hello again' , 're-membering' and exposing the two way aspects
of lost
relationships, the use of Michael White's recent questioning
of traditional
interpretations of the experience of distress and
conversations that can enhance the development of more useful understandings
of responses
to loss.
Venue:
to be announced
This will be a fun and creative workshop that offers:
ideas for therapeutic
conversations, a questioning of the unhelpful aspects of taken for
granted
ideas, and lots of practice. Day one will introduce, or revise
for those who
have encountered them previously, ideas for questioning
normality and its
tricks. Day two will offer lots of practice and tips for making these
ideas
useful in your work. Jane is an experienced and inspiring
presenter. In her
work and teaching she is skilled at assisting participants to enhance
their
appreciation of themselves, create new possibilities for their lives
and work
and with her kit “Lost in normality” recapture the extraordinary.
Venue: to be
confirmed but in northern
Sydney These two days will explore and practice
narrative ideas for anti
anorexia / anti bulimia with particular reference to recent writings in
the
text Biting the Hand that Starves You by Richard Maisel, David Epston
and Ali
Borden. This workshop will help you to take these ideas into
everyday
practice so you can better access 'insiders' unique knowledge for the
defeat of
these tricky problems.
Venue: to be
confirmed but in northern
Sydney This workshop will focus on narrative ways to
research as a
therapeutic tool, as a way of making narrative ideas sustainable and as
a means
of accountability. In these times there are more than ever requirements
on those who work from a narrative perspective to be visible
in their
accountability. The recent sad loss of Michael White's direct
contribution to
the field also begs the question of how we ensure that
narrative ways of
working continue to develop and grow in acceptance. Mary
Denise offers her
experience in working “for community” as both a therapist and
researcher.
She will introduce us to narrative enquiry as a useful and ethical way
of us
gathering evidence of what works and what matters
in counselling and community
work.
Venue: to be confirmed but in northern Sydney Michael White has in recent times introduced many to the ideas of Lev Vygotsky and the application of these ideas when working with people when there seems to be a gap between intent and actual action, for example when working with practices of violence. Mary Denise has been exploring the use of these ideas and will yarn about them in a workshop that will assist you to evolve useful practice for incorporating them in your work.
Venues will be announced on this web site when confirmed.
